From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
